Rise of the Bargain Bin Goon

One of the biggest problems with being an action figure aficionado with raging hoarding disorder is the fact that every new dolly has it’s own personality… and sometimes its own evil agenda.  Once you own too many of these things, especially the evil ones, it is no longer possible to properly pay attention to what they are up to.

The last installment of Action Figure Comics had the hero, Captain Action (specifically Captain Carl Action) thwarting the evil Doctor Evil by taking away his evil removable brain.  (I know I use the word evil far too often in describing the evil Doctor Evil, but he is also repetitively redundant.)  I had thought this Achilles’ heel of Dr. Evil’s… er, rather, this Achilles’ brain of the evil Doctor Evil was just too convenient a solution to the problem presented by this irrepressible evil bad guy.  But as a rule I find ignorance is bliss.     I know now that I was wrong.  That was a terrible rule to follow.  As a former teacher you are supposed to know that ignorance is not bliss… it is evil.  After 31 years of fighting the War Against Ignorance in my classroom, you would think I would remember this.  I should’ve been watching Emperor Ming of Mongo more closely… or should that be closlier?  Battle scars from the War have left me unsure.

One has to recall that Evil Emperor Ming is really just another incarnation of the evil Doctor Evil under his mask… although not one with a removable brain.  Notice that his minion, the evil Doctor Mindbender is no less evil when it comes to redundant use of the word “evil”… and he even commits the further sin of repetitively saying “no-good goody-goody”.  “Ach!  Ja!  Evil use of bad grammar makes my battle scars hurt more!” cries the former teacher driven to write this hopeless drivel.

What’s this?  He means to destroy the new bargain bin wrestler doll… I mean, action figure that I just bought?  I had meant to keep that as a mint in box collector’s item until the lucha wrestling fans of Sin Cara are as old as I am now.  Then I will find one of them with hoarding disorder and sell it for possibly eight dollars.  I will have made a whole dollar by the time I’m 109!

Yes, I should’ve been watching that dang evil Emperor Ming more closely!  Now he has ruined my mint-in-box action figure by taking it out of the box.  What bad thing will he do next?  Stay tuned to this goofy old blog.  You never know, I may actually continue this story if I can keep better track of what these goofy little dolls are doing.

Expelling Evil (But Only If You Can Overcome Spelling Trouble) Part Two

In the last episode of Expelling Evil, Grammar Naziswe saw the Captain Action Hero-Action-Guy Team move into Mickey’s Library with the speed of a Republican in Congress when there is legislation to be passed.  The heroes were prepared to battle Dr. Evil and evil Dr. Evil’s evil minions.  Captain Carl Action had encountered and pacified the evil minion known as the Agent in Red.  He found ways to capture and interrogate her that, while not the least bit effective, were something that he really, really enjoyed.

CAB1

So Carl, taking his time… an entire week if you can believe it!  decided to extend his interrogation even longer, in spite of chapped lips and the total absence of lip balm.  It was then that Colonel Komma and his evil Grammar Nazis decided to move in and attack the foolish hero-guy with Blitzkrieg word war.

CAB2

It was true.  I went back to that post and looked it up.  The word wondrous was spelled w-o-n-d-E-r-o-u-s!  Stupid Captain Carl!  How could he be so heroically stupid?  He let my wonderful, nearly perfect, purple paisley prose get possessed by a common, ordinary spelling demon.  The Grammar Nazis had him in an impossible position.  And his only response to the terrible situation?  He misuses an apostrophe, placing it on a plural noun that is not possessive!

CAB22

Then, just as Colonel Komma moved in for the editorial kill, Captain Carl came up with the perfect defense.  He used his super-power of super stupidity as a shield.    He successfully argued that you cannot be defeated by editing of your poor grammar if you don’t understand what they are talking about.  Fortunes of war were suddenly reversed!

CAB23

Captain Carl was not the only Captain Action present.  Captain Bill Newguy Action stepped in to disarm the Grammar Nazi with his famous whack-a-doo smacketty-smack punch.  The Grammar Nazis were defeated by the hypocrisy of trying to correct English grammar with such a thick accent that they were actually forcing the cartoonist to misspell stuff on purpose to accurately represent the weird sounds in their Grammar Nazi speech balloons.

CAB24

Colonel Komma was no longer the kapturing konqueror he was hoping to be.  Instead he had become the kaptured kook.  But Mickey was still no nearer to having his X-Box back for playing EA Sports Baseball ’04.  Dr. Evil still had control of that.

CAB25

Oh, noooooo!  Again!

Dr. Evil Invades Mickey’s Library!

Earlier I alluded to the plan of the super scary villain, Dr. Evil with the removable brain.  He was planning on invading Mickey’s library with malice aforethought… er, anger about all the books in there… or something.  Anyway, today he attacked.  He showed up with several of his evil minions.

Evil1

He brought some of the most evil minions I could afford on a teacher’s salary.  Ming the Merciless is his most evil adviser, a real whiz with the evil plans, even though I suspect he really doesn’t like looking at the Doctor’s exposed removable brain so much.

Evil2

So, once convinced, Dr. Evil put on his Dr. Normal-Guy mask.  It was a disguise he often used, and was successful while wearing it, because he could sneak past his enemies while they were laughing and rolling on the ground.  The laughter often started inexplicably after an enemy would ask what nationality a name like “Normal-Guy” really was.

Evil3

Besides fooling the foolish Action Hero guys, Dr. Evil relied on a secret weapon.  GRAMMAR NAZIS!!!  He would use them to relentlessly correct the spelling of the Action Hero guys until they cried like little babies.

Evil4

Will the Grammar Nazis prevail over the Action Heroes?  Would they take over Mickey’s wonderful library?  Would they notice how many times the villains misspelled the word “removable”?

Stay tuned next time… Same Bat Station!   Same Bat Channel!  For the next thrilling episode of Doctor Evil Attacks Mickey’s Library!!!!!
