No more job…

No more classroom to manage…

No more classroom clowns…

No more kids you look forward to daily…

They’re grown now with kids of their own…

No more sense of the teacher I was…

No more sense of who and what I am…

Except the pain reminds me that I am still alive…

Arthritis in every joint…

Diabetes draining all possible energy…

Glaucoma gradually taking away my eyes…

Retirement is…

Waiting to die…

Hopefully painlessly…

And hopefully not soon…
