On your phone, usually down by the spacebar, there should be something that looks like a microphone. The kind Robert R Murrow used to use. Tap that and then talk.

You’re not a crazy old coot, you just have a different experience than most other people on how to do things. Luckily, I know more than my age range typically does (like who else in my age knows Murrow, or cares??) So, did it help? Did you find it? Did it work?

Yes, it works well on the phone. I still plan to write on the laptop instead though.
Never give up the keyboard. But if you have to use the phone, you at least know how!
