A New Direction

The house in Dallas is a crumbling castle. My wife and daughter are going to renovate and put the castle walls back in place. They are hiring contractors and arranging to replace the roof and revitalize the siding. I will simply be in the way.

So, I am headed back to Iowa to live in the farmhouse with my sister on the family farm that was left to us. Being honest, I will not be coming back to Dallas. I am old and ill and planning to die where my parents and grandparents lived and died before me.

Like the boy prince in the Paffooney, I am leaving most of my worldly possessions behind. My daughter will keep and use my car. I am giving up driving for health reasons. I am probably not literally going back naked. Besides art supplies, a computer, and my own writing, I will not be taking lots of froofrew, junk, and toys with me. Just the essentials. The thoughts in my head. And I will attempt to share my earned wisdom with my old world before I die.
